Baccarat is one of the most elegant and straightforward casino card games, favored by both novice and experienced players. The game is played between two hands: the Player and the Banker. The objective is simple—predict which hand will have a total value closest to nine, or if the round will end in a tie.

Each card has a designated point value: cards 2-9 are worth their face value, 10s and face cards are worth zero points, and Aces are worth one point. When a hand's total exceeds nine, only the rightmost digit counts. For example, a hand totaling 15 is counted as 5.

The game typically begins with both the Player and Banker receiving two cards each. Depending on the hand values, additional cards may be drawn according to established rules. The hand closest to nine wins, and payouts are determined by your initial bet placement.

Punto Banco: The most common variation played in North American casinos. The Player and Banker positions are determined by specific drawing rules with no player discretion in card play. This version emphasizes pure chance and betting strategy rather than decision-making during gameplay.

Chemin de Fer: Traditionally played in European casinos, this variation allows players to take on the Banker role and make decisions about whether to draw additional cards. The position of Banker rotates among players, adding a social and strategic element to the game.

Baccarat Banque: A three-player variation where one player permanently takes the Banker position while others compete for the Player position. This version offers more control and strategic depth, making it popular in high-stakes gaming environments.

Live Dealer Baccarat: Modern online casinos offer live dealer versions where real dealers manage the game through video streaming. This combines the convenience of online play with the authenticity and social interaction of land-based casinos.
